With the release of iOS 16, Apple introduced many new security features to enhance privacy and security. One such feature is the “Allow Paste” alert notification, which alerts users when you attempt to paste text or data from one app into another, or when there is text copied to the clipboard and you open a new app.
There are two views on this. While some users have welcomed this new security measure, others have found the constant “Allow Paste” notifications to be annoying. Since the release of iOS 16, many users have been searching for a way to turn off this alert on their iPhones.
However, there wasn’t a setting in iOS 16 that could turn off this alert as we told you in our other guide “How to Fix iOS 16 “Allow Paste” Popup Permission Issue.” Thankfully, with the release of iOS 16.1, a setting has been added to the device that makes it easy to disable this prompt.
Here, I will show you how to turn off the “Allow Paste” notification on your iPhone so you can continue to use your device without the constant interruption of this alert.
How to Turn Off Allow Paste Alert on iPhone on iOS 16
Here’s a step-by-step guide to disabling the “Allow Paste” notification on your iPhone running iOS 16:
Step 1: Open the “Settings” app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Scroll down and tap on the app where you’re seeing the “Allow Paste” notification. (For example, I saw the prompt when using Instagram, pCloud, or the BoB World app.)
Step 3: In the app’s settings, look for the option “Paste from Other Apps” and tap on it.
Step 4: Three options will appear: “Ask,” “Deny,” and “Allow.” If you frequently copy text to that particular app, select “Allow.”
Please note that you’ll need to repeat these steps for each app that shows the “Allow Paste” notification. By selecting “Allow” for each app, you will disable the notification and be able to paste text into that app without interruption.
Selecting “Deny” will also turn off the alert but prevent you from pasting data into that app.
I am on 16.3.1 and I don’t see this “Allow Paste” setting in Settings/Apps. Did Apple remove it?
Hey Chris, no Apple hasn’t removed it. It is still there and you can allow or deny it.
All you have to do is go to Setting => and scroll down to the particular app that shows such as prompt. Not all apps ask for such permission so you won’t find the option in every app. Check only for the ones that show you the “Allow Paste” prompt. In my case, I can see this setting in pCloud, Instagram, and some banking apps.
So check it and tell me did this help you?
Weird. I checked Instagram and it’s not there for me. I am on 16.3.1 and I am, full disclosure, using the palera1n jailbreak – maybe a tweak or jailbreak is somehow hiding the setting? I’ve never seen a tweak cause an issue that elaborate but that’s the only theory I have … or else it’s some odd bug in 16.3.1 (if you’re on 16.4.x)? But holy cow this prompt is driving me insane … pops up probably 100+ times a day across my laptop/phone omg.
Haha…I know that prompt is irritating Chris. I am on 16.4.1 right now but when I published this article, I was on 16.2 and there was a such option to “Deny” the popup to appear on Instagram as well.
Jailbreak might be causing this issue, but I would suggest you first check with any of your friend’s iPhone.
If it shows an option to diable it on his/her iPhone, Jailbreak could be the issue for you. Let me know what happens.
Thanks for your help and advice. Sounds like at least at some point Apple confirmed it was a bug – guess it’s still one as of 16.3.1: https://www.theverge.com/2022/9/19/23361247/apple-confirms-allow-paste-prompt-ios-16-iphone-14-bug
Here’s hoping someone fixes it or a jailbreak tweak comes out that can suppress it entirely.
